This is what I feel a good introduction to the band if you havenīt heard them before:
1) The unknown knows
2) Chaosmongers
3) The Prow
4) Ravenous medicine
5) Tribal convictions
6) Angel Rat
7) The lost machine
Tornado
9) Missing sequences
10) Experiment
11) Bacteria
12) Time Warp
13) Insect
14) Cosmic drama
15) Forgotten in space
These are the bands most timeless songs, fitting for the new millenium. I have consciously avoided some of my favourite Voivod songs, such as Jack Luminous, Killing technology and Pre-ignition because I feel that the above list would make a good start for someone who hasnīt heard the band before. The first two albums have their moments as well, but are not among the bands most significant work. This is one of the most original and brilliant bands in music history, and if you are not a crazed fan(like myself) you can do without the bands first attempts at the sound which crystallized in full on Killing technology. Especially if itīs only going to be a single disk. Some thought has gone into the track sequencing as well - all the different aspects and moods of Voivod are in there, I just wish there were a few more minutes left on the CD so I could fit in at least another 10!
