Sure Yuri. Well, I'll at least shoot this thread his way. However, CF is currently quite busy on the new album. BTW, I luv the new VOIVOD.COM layout! Great work.

A live album with the newly energized Voivod group of Snake, Piggy & Away would be cool.

Also, I think a 2 Disk Best Of album should be done verses a single Best Of album. There is so much material that is strong from each of their albums.

Also, having a different tracklisting from the original should be considered. So like the song Voivod from the original Best Of album (if used for the new album) should be a different version. Like, a live version or a demo version or re-recorded version...see what I mean?

I will eventually re-edit my thoughts on the single and double CD Best Of ideas I had originally posted above.

What rare stuff does the band have (demos, live tracks, remixed tracks etc.) that they may include as bonus material for the release? I think unreleased & / or rare tracks could only enhance the release.

Finally, I think the new Best Of should be remastered / remixed with lyrics to all the songs listed with a brief summary for each of the songs and have the booklet filled with fabulous Away pictures (some seen and not seen before).

--------
A DVD of their videos with:

1. Running commentary
2. Behind the scenes making of the DVD
3. On the road bits
4. A massive stills gallery -
(live pix, drawings, album covers etc.)
5. A "Beginnings Of Voivod" -
detailing the starting point of their
career and what significant things
happened during the band's continual
lifespan
6. Conspiracy stories and theories on some
of their favorite songs
7. Plus bonus live (2002) footage
(as an easter egg)

Reading all of the many suggestions so far, I've started fantasizing about the possibilities of this "Best of" album...

1) How about re-record all of these 15 songs and release them, just like Groovy Aardvark did with their early material on "Fast Times at Longueuil High"?

2) Another awesome idea would be to record these 15 songs live and release them as a "Best of... Live"

Either one of these ideas would bring such an interesting twist to the more standard "Best of" every band does...

What do y'all think?

Well, maybe the tracks from War And Pain through The Outer Limits any way. The songs from Negatron on really don't need to be re-recorded...that is unless Snake and the band really wants to sing Eric's era of Voivod. I still think a 2 Disk Best Of album would be the best awy to go...

Hmm, I wonder if the band was planning to go this far into a Best Of album...doubtful, yet it would be a nice addition to their already brillant back catalog. This Live Best Of album most definitely should be a 2 or 3 Disk set. A third disk for rare and unreleased tracks...of course.
